This professional program was developed by Dr. Cloud to respond to needs that businesses and organizations have in the leadership development space. Even in companies who spend a lot time, energy, and resources on leadership development, gaps can still exist in the overall leader capacity throughout the organization. Commonly, there is a “quilted” or “patchwork” picture of leadership competencies and training, as well as emotional and interpersonal skills gaps within parts of the company. There can be pockets of strength in various departments and teams, and in others places gaps exist between leadership abilities that a position demands and the development a leader might have had. Simply put, they have often not had the leadership development to get them to a state commensurate with their technical or other business competencies. They might be great in marketing or technology, but not as great in leading and working with people and teams.
